Muddy Waters: Te Mato Vai’s missing millions

Since Rarotonga’s new drinking-water system came online in September 2020, Ministry of Finance and Economic Management (MFEM) have failed to depreciate the asset for four consecutive Budget cycles. Conservatively valued at NZD$102 million, this represents a significant misreporting of the Cook Islands Government account.
