8 Aug 2015 Our first market session for 2015 and a chance for us to catch up with our Arorangi / Puaikura boothers. We took some dazzling strips and pix, added to family portrait collections, chatted to honorary locals and sampled a banoffee cup cake. Plus, Ms. Luna got a costume!.
A big meitaki to our booth-operator-in-training Rosaline, who made sure that Mauke got their booth on.

7 Aug 2014 It was a last-minute dash for us to make the Vaka Puaikura Concert this year - fortunately aunty and Jaz were on hand to take Aroko to the show. As usual some stunning shots were taken ‘out west’, with families updating their portraits, new pepes, young love, cousins chillin’, and performers hitting the booth direct from the stage. Only a few food stalls, but we can recommend the chicken curry and kebabs :).

21 Dec 2013 The finals night saw more support for the dancers, with a few contestants visiting the booth direct from the stage. We took pix for families staying across at the school for a family reunion, and great solos, destined for homes in the Pa Enua.

20 Dec 2013 Hula Mania was in town was in the 80s, so there was much curiosity about the event - a Cook Islands duo dance competition and cabaret evening. We popped into the Aro'a Nui before the booth session, and the Nesian Mana team had done an awesome job with the staging – working mainly with organic materials. As it was the week before Christmas, we brought our Xmas props along which provided much entertainment for the ushers.

12 Dec 2013 The Muri night market on Thursday has quickly become the place to catch up with family and friends, while sharing fresh grilled fish, curry, BBQ plate or one of the many dessert options.
We returned from Aroko-enforced night-market-retirement for a special ‘Muri Christmas’ booth session, with a host of new Xmas headbands (thanks aunty Brenda), and our ever growing array of festive props.
A highlight for us was the tireless and inventive repertoire of the string band, possibly including a island version of ‘Cotton-Eye Joe’?
Aroko camped out on a blanket with his uncles to watch the performance, while aunty Christina, replete in red fairy wings helped dress boothers, and gave out some sweet treats.

21 Dec 2012 The Starlight Concert was organised by the Impact Youth group, with talented performers singing and dancing up a storm. Outside the AOG Hall, vendors cooked up tasty treats, painted faces and took Christmas pix. The tamariki explored Candy Land and were entertained by the youth leaders. We added showbiz props to our Christmas selection for that Island-Santa-on-Broadway look.

19 Dec 2012 A mini-Christmas celebration, feat. a host of performers including an acoustic set by Jaik Berg, island dance by Mii Andrew, and a guest appearance by Tani and Maiata; the evening compèred by the dynamic trio of Lynch, Marsters, and Vaiimene. A booth highlight were the karoke carols, including automated score card at the end of each track - “Oh look, I got 100, and I wasn’t even singing…”.

5 Dec 2012 A new location for the annual Rotaract Christmas celebrations this year, with Punanga Nui standing in for the BCI Stadium. This year’s theme was red-and-white, and boothers rose to the challenge with great costumes, pareu, hair peices and face paint. We came to the party with our Christmas props-box, including new sparkling trilby hats, elf caps and extra reindeer noses (thanks Ine)…

5 Dec 2012 …From our location near the band rotunda (old stage), we could see the corner of the new stage. Rotaract and Andersons did a great job with the decorations, lighting, and sound; and the night’s performers kept the crowd singing and dancing.
We had plans to explore the rest of the market, maybe grab a Kai Pizza, but boothers had other ideas ;). It was awesome to see familiar faces come update their booth-folio, commemorate a reunion, or take a family Christmas portrait. The night ended with a bang with a dazzling fireworks display.
Meitaki ma‘ata to Rotaract members and the volunteers - nice!
