5 Oct 2018 Back to the old skool for some fundraising.
The gala was well-underway by 12.30 this year … what happened to ‘island-time’?
As has become our tradition, plans to a) buy some food, and b) check out the other stalls — never happened.
Adriana’s face painting was popular again, as was the haunted house. Tangiiau worked up a sweat climbing-and-then-falling-down the bouncy castle, pitched in the midday sun. By our estimation the real action was to be found at the art auction. (If you missed out on your favourite canvas, postcard versions are planned - see the TUO office)…

5 Oct 2018 …We rounded out our session with some super-hero shots, sweet family portraits and staff mugging.

6 Oct 2017 Our third TUO gala fundraiser event almost didn’t happen due to a last minute booking enquiry, but this year the tamariki won out :). With the boys dispatched to Mila, Sarah and aunty, we were free to ‘stack heads’ and catch up with boothers-past…

6 Oct 2017 … Today was the debut of a vibrant new hand–printed backdrop ‘Cheery Blossom’, supported by a suitably syrupy photo strip design. The gala was also a chance to farewell Apii Potiki aunty Jutta, and we kept the booth open a bit longer for staff and supporters to sneak in a few strips as the sun went down.
Meitaki to everyone who came to support the school — see you again next time.

11 Oct 2014 …It was a mad dash for us from the Saturday market, to set up in Tupapa, back to Matavera for a costume change, and town again for the 5pm start. Aroko came along in a Wonkeresque outfit, but we had to throw up the bat signal and request an evac. from aunty early on.
This year we were helping Rotaract fundraise for nebulisers, destined for the Pa Enua.
‘Candy Land’ was the theme, and there were some awesome costumes on show. Rotaract put on an evening of activities, dancing, (+ some candy). We added a few extra props and boothers grabbed some of the hall decorations to add some extra pop to the strips.
Photo reprints and enlargements are available (for a limited time), from the booth at Punanga Nui Market, Saturday morning.

3 Oct 2014 We were stoked to be invited back to the Apii Te Uki Ou Gala to help fundraise this year. The afternoon started with a whale sighting just off the coast as the school is not far from the reef. Activities included a horizontal bungy, haunted house, face painting, a monster garage sale, and rides on the fire engine. The theme was ‘rainbow’ so we picked a suitably bright backdrop and added a few props to the mix.
Meitaki to Jade, Elke and Rosie who helped wrangle Aroko while we set-up.
Reprints and enlargements (blow-ups) can be purchased from us at the Saturday market.

11 Oct 2013 There were plenty of cartoon capers at Rotaract’s 2013 Junior Spring Ball. Super heroes, princesses, secret agents, scientists, and Smurfette all came to take pix. Rotaract also put on competitions, group dance sessions, supper and ice-cream to keep the kids cool. An awesome night - we’ll be sure to bring Aroko with us next year.

2 Oct 2013 Everyone was looking well sharp for the Youth Masquerade Ball - especially the guys. The event was run as fundraiser for an upcoming youth conference in New Caledonia, with support from the Ministry of Internal Affairs. Staircase put on a range of topical punches and cocktails, there were some tasty snax, and the sounds cranked-up loud.
Prizes were awarded for categories including ‘Craziest Dancer’, ‘Best Couple’, and King and Queen of the ball - with a ceremonial dance performed to an acapella version of Mou Piri. Throw in some endurance push-ups for good measure and you have a night to remember.
Big prints from the Ball can be purchased from the Island Booth at the market Saturday morning.

20 Sep 2013 Thanks to George and Jenna we were invited along to help the kids from Apii Te Uki Ou raise funds for their school. Along with our usual great pix, we also ran a prize draw for a couple of custom-made Picture Paradise photo frames. We pitched the booth near the primary school alongside the volunteer fire truck and not far from the horizontall bungy and shooting range…
